Position: Database Administrator
Job duties:
Responsible for providing remote database management and support services for K-12 schools: design and maintain logical and physical database; perform data extraction, loading and transformation; write triggers; implement rules by creating stored procedures; import new files; write Visual Basic scripts to format and validate data in accordance with our import rules; create access reports and write custom queries to look up and/or extract data on behalf of clients; create and maintain a SQL database for the students; design, develop and update database interface modules for inputs by client/user; write scripts to import data from various other databases into SQL 2000; data migration and mapping from various school managements systems in relational and non-relational databases into eSchoolDatas database; design input flat file, SQL*Loader scripts, temporary tables and PL/SQL packages to perform data validation; maintain data integrity after migration by writing various validation routines; create and export a stand-alone database in Access for users to download data and create various reports; maintain reporting functions for users; design data backup and recovery strategies; perform database capacity planning for future growths; take measure to ensure database security; maintain client/server connectivity; assign access privileges to users. Run database consistency checks; perform database testing, monitor database system performance, conduct trouble shooting and performance tuning; archive databases; support customers, including school district administration and schools. Use Windows NT, SCO - Unix, VAX VMS, HP-UX, Oracle RDBMS, Oracle Developer Suite, PL/SQL, SQL*Plus, Oracle Web Server, Netscape Enterprise Server, Java, Java AWT, JavaScript, HTML, MS Project, Erwin, C, Cobol, SQL, Crystal Reports, Visual Basic, Access and Oracle Applications.
Educational requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Science (any field) or Engineering (any field). Will also accept 3 years of undergraduate study in science (any field) or engineering (any field) and 3 years experience in job offered.
Work Experience requirements:
2 years experience in job offered or in a related occupation such as Computer Support Specialist, Data Analyst, DBA, Systems Analyst, or Programmer Analyst.
Specific skill or other requirements:
2 years experience with database management, SQL, PL/SQL, Oracle RDBMS, SQL*Loader, SQL*Plus, Crystal Reports and Oracle Developer Suite. (Any suitable combination of education, training or experience is acceptable.)
Terms: $65,000/year, 40 hours/week, 9 AM – 5 PM. Monday to Friday.
